Composition or asphalt shingle roofing is the most popular solution in use today.  This product performs well at a reasonable price offering low maintenance and Class-A fire protection—the highest in residential roofing.  You will rest easy knowing  you have selected an efficient, cost-effective, safe product for your home. 

With the many options in color, style, and brand available today, every home owner’s design needs are met while complying with most homeowner's association requirements.  Now composition shingles are available in thicker, patterned options, adding new style options with dimension for your roof. 

There are 3 parts to an asphalt shingle:

• The base is made of an organic felt or fiberglass mat produced from very fine glass fibers and a binder securing them. Organic felt is comprised of recycled and recyclable materials such as wood chips, corrugated boxes, and paper.
• A layer of asphalt creates a waterproof barrier, holds the granules in place, and strengthens your shingle.
• A final layer of granules made of finely ground opaque crushed rocks and colored by a ceramic coating is added to block ultraviolet light which ages the asphalt layer. Granules also color shingles. Remember that a lighter shingle is always better for a roof’s heat absorption and your energy bill.
